PUMP SELECTION AND PIPE FLOW ANALYSIS PROGRAM
HELIX delta-Q PumpManager for windows
provides a useful tool for engineers to quickly and easily optimise pump selections
and single pipe system design. You can calculate friction losses in pipes and fittings
for Liquids as well as Slurries. Retrieve the
data from user accessible databases for Liquids and Slurries, Pipes and Fittings,
Pumps and Motors and then display and print the system head curve or table of losses.
The Pump search facility will list all pumps from a range that
can meet the duty point. Select one or more pumps, view the performance curves and
merge the curves onto the system head curve.
The program will automatically calculate the correct
impeller diameter or speed and display the viscosity correction factors.
Context sensitive on screen Help will guide you through the operating procedures
and provide definitions and the formulae used in the calculations. This means that
wherever you are in the program and need Help, press F 1 and help relating to that
topic will be displayed. Produce customised pump selections and reports using Windows.
delta-Q will save you time and assist you in reducing capital, operating and maintenance
costs.
Additional Quick Calculations for:
- Quick Head Calculation
- Velocity Calculations
- Reynolds Number Calculation
- Absorbed Power Calculation
- Operating Cost Calculation
- Pipe Support Spacing
- Thrust on Pipe Bends
- Water Hammer Calculations
- Orifice Sizing
- NPSH Calculations
HELIX delta-Q FRICTION LOSS
CALCULATIONS
The friction loss calculations are performed using
the Darcy Weisbach and Colebrooke-White formula which provides the most accurate
results, including viscous liquids. Select the Liquid or Slurry from the database
or manually input the details, then retrieve the Pipe and Fittings that are included
in the system. Enter the system or duty flow rate and instantly view the Table of
Losses or System Head Curve. Multiple pipe diameters and types can be included in
a compound pipe system as well as specifying different flow rates for each section
of pipe.
System Head Curve can also be displayed and printed
with the option of entering a minimum and maximum static head condition. The pump
performance curves can also be merged onto the system head curve.
Pipe Longsection provides the user with a graphic longsection
display of the system indicating the lengths and elevations of each section of pipe.
Hydraulic Gradient of the system displays the actual
and allowable pressure in each section of piping. This will clearly indicate if
the actual pressure exceeds the pressure rating for the Class of pipe used. In addition
a Warning will also appear on the Pipe Details printout.
HELIX delta-Q DATABASES
Databases provide the essential facility of easily
retrieving Liquid, Pipe, Fitting or Pump details for use in your calculations and
also store an invaluable library of information that you can add to or edit to meet
your own specifications and requirements.
delta-Q is provided with user accessible databases
for:
LIQUIDS and SLURRIES, PIPES and FITTINGS, PUMPS and
MOTORS and DRAWING SYMBOLS
The databases are each provided with maintenance menu
options such as Add, Edit, Delete, Copy, Display and Print as well as a Price Factoring
facility where applicable. The databases can be password protected to prevent unauthorised
entry, alterations and deletions.
The Pump Database enables you to easily enter pump
range descriptions and models in each range. Information such as suction and discharge
diameters, flange details, maximum casing pressure, shaft diameter, mass and price
is included in the databases. Performance curves can then be entered for each model
by impeller diameter or speed by selecting a 3 or 10 point option. The performance
curves can then be retrieved and displayed with the duty point marked or merged
onto the system head curve.
HELIX delta-Q PUMP SELECTION
Selection of the correct pump and electric motor forms
a critical aspect of an overall design and ensures that process design standards
are met coupled with optimum efficiency and lowest operating cost.
delta-Q provides a number of unique features
enabling you to quickly and easily choose and view the performance curves of the
most suitable pump from a range. Simply enter the duty point and select from the
following options:
Pump Search will find and list all models from
a range capable of meeting the duty point and table them in order of highest efficiency.
Display and print the performance curves against the duty point or system head curve
for one or more of the models.
Manual Selection enables you to select a particular
model from the range and view the performance curves alone or merge with the system
head curve.
Selection Criteria allows you to flag essential
pump specifications such as maximum impeller diameter or tip speed, minimum discharge
velocity, maximum solid size and other criteria. This ensures that the pumps selected
meet your requirements.
Multiple Pumps provides you with the option
of specifying the number of pumps in series or in parallel to meet
the duty point. Select the pumps from the range, which can be a combination of different
models, specify the quantity of each and view the combined performance curves against
the duty point or system head curve.
Correction Factors for viscous liquids are automatically
applied to the selection and the calculated CE, CQ, and CH values displayed. A manual
over-ride is provided should you want to alter the correction factors. In addition
the correct impeller diameter or speed to meet the duty point will be calculated
for each pump selected.
Select Motor will display the absorbed and maximum
run-out power of the pump and provide you with the option of specifying a safety
factor and then selecting the motor in accordance with the absorbed power or maximum
impeller run-out power. The motor will then be retrieved from the database displaying
the power, frame and shaft size .
HELIX delta-Q GENERAL CALCULATIONS
A number of useful general calculations can quickly
and easily be performed and printed by choosing from the following;
